GDPR Changes with ResBook

The GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) went into effect on May 25, 2018. This has altered how software providers can handle personal data for EU citizens.

This is particularly important for ResBook as it currently services guests from all over the world everyday including those from the European Union.

In order to stay compliant with this new law ResBook has made some changes.

Contact data now cannot be held for more than two years in ResBook. Guest information that enters ResBook has the primary purpose of servicing the guests interaction with the host. Once that interaction has been completed and a reasonable time has expired this guest information will also expire.

See our integration with Mailchimp if you wish to transfer this information to a marketing tool moving forward that they can opt out of via email.

There are some exceptions. For example, if a guest decides to book again with the property within two years of their last booking they will stay on until 2 years from their last departure date.

Our GDPR policy will also be available in ResBook shortly.
